Southwark Cathedral receives £10,000 grant towards decarbonisation plans

Southwark Cathedral has received a £10,000 Community Energy Fund grant from Southwark Council to help progress plans to install air-source heat pumps.

Southwark Cathedral is grateful to Southwark Council for awarding a £10,000 Community Energy Fund grant to support its decarbonisation programme.

The funding will help progress the Cathedral's plans to install air-source heat pumps, supporting its ambition to reduce the environmental impact of heating the building.

Caring for a historic cathedral means considering both the building's needs and its future. This grant is a welcome contribution towards exploring a more sustainable approach to heating, as part of the Cathedral’s wider commitment to caring for creation.

We extend our sincere thanks to Southwark Council for supporting this work and helping us take the next steps in our decarbonisation journey.
